The Committee held the working meeting with the academic personnel of the medical profiles of Universities to discuss the legislative norm to provide access of the students and residents to the cadaveric material. It is noteworthy, that BAU International University, Batumi is one of the initiators who applied for the above mentioned topic and is actively participating in the implementation of the legislative amendments. According to the Chair, Akaki Zoidze, the academic process of Medical Universities includes cadaveric material. “It is the mean with which the students and residents – future doctors obtain practical skills in surgery technology, anatomy and pathological anatomy. This issue was not regulated for years. We had no legal norms allowing obtainment of the cadaveric material. Now, we have resumed the legal changes necessary for increased accessibility to cadaveric material. Development includes the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Prosecutor’s Office, Ministry of Healthcare, as well as academic personnel of the Medical Universities. Today, we reconciled the position to regulate this issue on the international standards level”, - he stated.
